Sprint's Ridiculous "Warranty" Gets Even More Ridiculous

Most people are aware of Sprint's bogus "warranty" that is offered on BlackBerrys. You know...The "warranty" where even though your BlackBerry is covered under a manufacturers warranty for one year, Sprint still screws you by making you pay $55.00 for a "warranty claim" or makes you pay $4-$7/month for "their insurance".

Let's break that first part down a little clearer:
Say you just bought a new shiny 8330 Curve from Sprint. WOO HOO! You're happy! You're asked if you want to purchase "insurance" for it, and you say "nah" because you suspect your BlackBerry is under warranty...

Well, 31 days later you wake up one morning to notice your BlackBerry isn't charging the battery. Upon inspection, you see that the USB port has somehow come disconnected from the board inside...CRIKIES!

You head on down to your Sprint store feeling not as panicked because you know it's warranty and you just bought it...

Get to the Sprint store, walk in the door, tell them what happened...and BOOM. They drop a bomb on ya! $119.99 for a refurb!!! WTF?

Typically this would be covered by (an already ridiculous) $55.00 "advanced exchange" fee, assuming you had no water damage to your phone. However, starting July 20th, it's gonna cost ya $119.99.

Absolutely ABSURD in our book.

Point of the story? 3 of them.
1: If you're going to break your BlackBerry USB port, do it within the next 5 days.
2: Now would be a good time to invest in the "insurance" that Asurion offers through Sprint ($50 deductible).
3: It's time to start looking for another carrier

Ya DA.. You said it!!! Manufacturers warranty! Key word would be...MFC. Sprint has nothing to do with equipment they are providing you a service for a fee!! Ur handset is another story. Don't bash the phone company, they sold you the handset and what DA..would buy a $550 phone with no insurance get a clue! Your an idiot!

Apparently anonymous, you were dropped on your head as a child.
The point isn't "what dumbass would buy a $550 phone and no insurance". Many people would be dumbasses then in your reference, as the amount of people who purchase a BlackBerry don't get any type of insurance.
The point is there is a manufacturers warranty for 1 year that comes along with all BlackBerry devices. So an example, if you are with TMOBILE or any other carrier, and your USB port breaks, assuming it doesn't have any water damage (Which it won't if you are a responsible owner), all you have to do is call your carrier, and they will send you a replacement device out, free of charge (assuming that you return the original device and again, it doesn't have water damage). If it's 31 days since your purchase, Sprint makes you pay for a "warranty replacement", hence, it's not an actual WARRANTY now is it?
(Below, you can skip to #4 if you have a short attention span).
K...Thanks...See ya...Bye...

all companies are similiar with this, as i help support one of the top cell phone companies.

warrenty is void if there is any physical damage to the device, and thats per the manufacturers, not the company.

insurance is almost always refurb (as is warrenty replacements fyi). but paying 119 rather then retail isn't too terrible for the same device.

and thats cheaper compared to the insurance claim for a blackberry for the company i'm with, which is now 125.00 deduct as of June.

same thing happen on replacement phone I received twice since on my both
blackberry.( total of 7 phone replacement between two lines, all found
defective)
Now sprint store is pushing back to give me any more replacement unless i am willing to pay $35 for time I take phone to Sprint
since I don't have insurance on the Phone from Sprint and telling me to
contact Blackberry Since My both phone covered by 1 year Manufacturing

telling me to go to Sprint even it's covered under mfg. warranty.
According to blackberry, sprint is responsible to support mfg. warranty
and pointing me to legal doc. on Blackberry web site.
