BB Troll Tries To Make People Believe He Unlocked Verizon 8830 GPS...Just Shows His Ass In Public

A guy who goes by the name of tomgeist1 decided to go on a drive-by blogging on all of the BlackBerry Forums stating that he successfully hacked the GPS lock on his Verizon 8830...SWEET HUH?

Too bad TomGeist is a dipshit and doesn't know BlackBerry 101.

As you can see in the above video, he flaunts that he did it, with one small problem. Apparently Tom doesn't realize that CDMA equipped BlackBerrys don't have the full menu of information under the GPS. DOH!

Take any CDMA BlackBerry Tommy Boy, go to Options-Advanced Options-GPS...

Do you see Lat/Long/Assist/# of satellites/etc?

Didn't think so. Those only show up on GSM devices...And it CLEARLY shows in your fake video that those options do appear on your magical Verizon 8830.

So what do we have here folks? We have a liar. And not even a good one at that. Oh, and probably someone desparate as well, seeing as the video was posted around 3am in the morning.

The best quote to sum it up is LeetNeo on Pinstack who commented:
"Most ppl jerk it at that point in time....lol
"

Right you are LeetNeo.

You are simply looking at an 8820 that has been reskinned in a Verizon housing (probably from cnn.cn).

So to make your bashing of him easier, we have compiled a list of all the forums on which he lied so you can call him out. Have Fun!

BlackBerry Thunder Pre-Order! (Yeah Right)

Blah..Blah...Blah...Blah...Blah...Blah...

So some website named eXpansys over in the UK decided to post that they were taking pre-orders for both the BlackBerry Bold AND the BlackBerry Thunder. Obviously this is completely an attempt to gain traffic to their site (a pathetic one at that), but what is even worse, is all of the BlackBerry Blogs that are actually reporting on it as if they really found some breaking news there!

Hey, guess what...We are taking pre-orders for the Thunder also!

We are also taking pre-orders for:

  • 5-2022 Lamoborghini's
  • 5-2019 Ferrari's
  • 90% of the condo's that will be available on Space Station Berry (slated for launch in 2050)
  • Hancock DVD's
  • Next weeks USA Today Weekend Edition
  • and...
Get the point?

It's not news because some company posts it up on their website with a bogus pre-order...You can pre-order anything. Hell, I just called and pre-ordered a sausage and mushroom pizza for Super Bowl Sunday next year...HA! TOP THAT!

Sprint's Ridiculous "Warranty" Gets Even More Ridiculous

Most people are aware of Sprint's bogus "warranty" that is offered on BlackBerrys. You know...The "warranty" where even though your BlackBerry is covered under a manufacturers warranty for one year, Sprint still screws you by making you pay $55.00 for a "warranty claim" or makes you pay $4-$7/month for "their insurance".

Let's break that first part down a little clearer:
Say you just bought a new shiny 8330 Curve from Sprint. WOO HOO! You're happy! You're asked if you want to purchase "insurance" for it, and you say "nah" because you suspect your BlackBerry is under warranty...

Well, 31 days later you wake up one morning to notice your BlackBerry isn't charging the battery. Upon inspection, you see that the USB port has somehow come disconnected from the board inside...CRIKIES!

You head on down to your Sprint store feeling not as panicked because you know it's warranty and you just bought it...

Get to the Sprint store, walk in the door, tell them what happened...and BOOM. They drop a bomb on ya! $119.99 for a refurb!!! WTF?

Typically this would be covered by (an already ridiculous) $55.00 "advanced exchange" fee, assuming you had no water damage to your phone. However, starting July 20th, it's gonna cost ya $119.99.

Absolutely ABSURD in our book.

Point of the story? 3 of them.
1: If you're going to break your BlackBerry USB port, do it within the next 5 days.
2: Now would be a good time to invest in the "insurance" that Asurion offers through Sprint ($50 deductible).
3: It's time to start looking for another carrier

TuneUsIn BETA Testing Streaming Music Videos To BlackBerrys

TuneUsIn has informed us that they are currently BETA testing a new music video section of the site.

Utilizing the 4.5 Operating Systems, you are able to visit the site, click on the music video that you wish to view, and it begins to play in your media player. Pretty spiffy!

There are already sites that somewhat already do this such as blueapple and even youtube itself, but what we like about the site that you don't have to dig through 4 pages of confusion in order to get what you want to view.

Check it out and let us and TuneUsIn know what you think. The link to visit from your BlackBerry is http://tuneusin.com/musicvideos.html

Buh-Bye Red 8130 on Sprint...

Adios amigo.

This will be the last month for the color choice of RED for the 8130 on Sprint. That didn't last too long eh? Actually, it had a shorter life span than the POS 7100 on TMOBZ. HAH.

Interesting enough though is that the RED CURVE is slated to come out on Sprint starting on the 9th.

Oh, and by the way....You loyal 8703 owners...It's slated end-of-life for August...Not that it means anything to you since you already have one and it will still be available for warranty replacement, but we just felt that we should tell you in case you have any friends or co-workers who wanted to get a new one.

Google BETA Testing Voice Support For Google Maps On Pearls...

Now another reason comes along for people to claim BlackBerry users are even more crazy, as if vlingo and BlueTooth weren't enough already...

See the guy above? That can be you! Of course, if you used vlingo before they updated it, you probably already have taken the above pose a few times this week.

Anyways, Google is now testing voice support for Google Maps on their BlackBerry, but it's only limited to the Pearl series (WTF?-Seriously? The PEARL? NOT the CURVES?-Oh well).

We will probably find a way around this and get it put onto the Curves by using the Java Command Loader, but if you are on a Pearl right now and want to check it out, let us know what you think.

All you have to do is point your BlackBerry browsers to www.google.com/gmm and it will automatically update.

Now we just have to find a Pearl somewhere around the offices in order to get the file for the Curves. Too bad almost everyone here ditched their Pearls about a year ago...

UPDATE:
Good...We are lazy today and want to do any REAL work, and we don't have to now!

Over at BERRYREVIEW they already found the direct OTA download link that will work on the Curves and 8800's.

Vlingo...Take 2

After pissing off approximately 3/4 of the BlackBerry owners in the world earlier this week, vlingo has released a statement AND an updated version of their application which enables voice-commands on your BlackBerry...And it works this time!

Head on over to their release page by CLICKING HERE and give it another shot. If it didn't work for you the first time after trying for hours upon hours upon hours, and you swore vlingo to hell and that you would never give them another chance...well...give them another chance.

Pay close attention to the entire post, mainly the part where it tells TMO and Rogers users to change the port settings to ALTERNATE.

Thanks vlingo for jumping on this so quick and saving yourselves from our "Palringo Category".
